Yale history professor Timothy Snyder tells us what lessons can be learned from 20th Century European history in order for America to avoid fascist authoritarianism. And Deborah Weinstein of the Coalition for Human Needs breaks down Trump’s cruel budget plan.

A very important program. well done. There is no guarantee that we cannot lose the American country most of us grew up in an appreciated, and thought was constantly improving will exist, and the evidence seems to indicate that progress slowed, stopped and is now reversing – and has been for some time now.
Thanks Brux…
Many in the United States blame everyone else and never look at themselves. Many behave like blistered children and blame everyone around themselves without taking a step in the proper ways themselves. When you noticed a homeless, jobless person… you step up to the plate to take a swing at the problem, and help them out?
Many, like you say, worship alcohol, cigarettes, or even prescription drugs that doctors get paid good money for. The prescription drugs, pain killers, mind control drugs that doctors get paid big dollars for…
Those doctors then pretend and act like good people.
Those doctors end up as the REAL CRIMINALS that the government pays and LAWYERS tell lies for and thus get paid also.
“WHO are the REAL CRIMINALS?”
Amen. God speaks and tells the truth. Amen.
Mr. Snyder’s definition of “patriot” ought to have been in an “introduction” so readers would know of his exclusionary perspective that ignores the international crimes of the United States and demonizes other nation’s leaders arbitrarily and without evidenced reason.
All other matters in his “On Tyranny” book are mutated by his perverse definition of “patriotism”.
Mr. Nader, your credibility is damaged by your emphatic praise of this nationalist propaganda that refuses to acknowledge that the United States was already WORSE than Mussolini’s Italy BEFORE Trump obtained the office of President.
I am no Trump supporter. Nor do I support corporatism, imperialism, militarism, U.S.government-sponsored-terrorism, or arbitrary demonization of “foreign” people or their leaders.
Personally, I’d skip Mr. Snyder’s book, then go straight to Sheldon S. Wolin’s great work DEMOCRACY INC. and think about the situation of “INVERTED TOTALITARIANISM” which appears to be exactly the case in the USA.
