Ralph welcomes constitutional scholar, John Bonifaz, co-founder and president of the group “Free Speech for People,” which has launched the non-partisan campaign “Impeach Trump.
I am begging whoever will listen to consider one thing. I am 72 years old and am still pretty sharp, if you don't mind my saying so.
Y'all are barking up the WRONG tree. In his younger days, I'm sure Ralph Nader would pick up on this. Nader understands that when the terms of a contract are broken, it becomes null and void. Ditto wedding vows. Ditto a member of the House who breaks their Oath.
The moment the PEOPLE of a district can make a case the oath has been broken, they can claim they are NOT being represented. The seat has been effing VACATED.
Do you understand? We have 219 TRAITORS to our Constitution sitting in our People's House.
Only FOUR need to be jettisoned to change the balance. Mr. Fein, do you believe for an instant that, when faced with an unfaithful Rep, Mr. Madison would advise waiting for midterms? Are you serious?
Cmon people.... We've got the power --- the Ninth Amendment is there... Let someone try and stop good people who honor what our Constitution says....
Look forward to hearing this. Trump administration is corrupted but there’s no alternative allowed. Impeach again and then what? Put in Tom Cotton? Or another AIPAC sponsored pro genocide black woman democrat ? Maybe we should be going after the Democrats who stopped a sanders run which led to a Trump presidency? Aren’t they the root? The more subversive enablers that vomited up Trump? MAGA has spoken. They wanted this guy and he won the election. Many Trump supporters were former Bernie supporters.
Maybe we should do after the DP (primarily) that does their best to keep 3rd Parties off ballots - ask Ralph, he can tell you how that works ....
As for Sanders - he could have joined the GP ticket in '16, whose platform was much like his - instead of backing Clinton whose platform was pretty much the antithesis as his - but he said he didn't want to "wind up like Nader"
It's pretty hard to impeach someone if the government has already ruled he is not peachable . It's like saying to the police officer I know I didn't come to a complete stop, but regardless of what the video shows I ain't paying,,, it's my road, my stop sign ,,I pay your salary and remember me when you took the job you agreed to never arrest me ,
So go get back in your squad car and let me run the country and the roads my way .
The reality hurts doesn't it ?
So how you deal with this type of character?
There are a lot of ways but of course but most of them are unmensionables .
But one that works every time ,the next time he and his friends go to the drinking fountain turn the water off and don't let them have a drink. If you don't like the way the CEO's of those big corporations. Walmart, Target , Home Depot, Ace hardware are budding up to trump and treating their employees unfairly and price gouging,, don't " buy" from them ,,, sure it's going to cost you more but in the long run you're going to pay a lot more in a lot more ways , remembered those CEO's did nothing to stop Trump from rasing those prices because of those Unneeded tariffs which you will be soon be paying at the check out ,,,.
How about your Congress and State and Federal representatives
What have they done "directly" for you to make your life better ? Ask them, what did Trump really do to make your life better and safer ,,how many of those immigrants coming across the border really stole from you this year ? ( Fill in the blank ____ ) ,, if 0000 fire your representative .
Will what you do make a difference ?
There is an old saying If you're not in the Game you can't play ,
All sensible and correct. Trump has clearly violated the constitution and should be impeached. However, thos seems like tbe wrong conversation now. It is like asking hardened criminals to turn themselves in to the police. Voting failed - America elected a convicted felon. Change will have to happen at a grass root level in a more direct way. We are in a situation similar to 1930s Germany. The Nazis won that battle in tbe streets.
Ralph, we agree on this: Trump should be impeached and convicted.
On another note, Ralph, I've got a good one for you: I am traveling overseas and had my IDs stolen (they were in a valise). Kansas refuses to send me certified copies of my birth certificate because Vitalchek imposed their profit-driven corporate model onto the not-for-profit government functions they now perform.
Birth certificates fall under federal jurisdiction because of the 14th Amendment privileges and immunities clause, which French Professor Patrick Weil used when teaching at Yale Law School in a 2014 article that a US passport is a right for purposes of ID when traveling overseas.
The Kansas office will not send me my birth certificate, saying I must have two official documents sent to the address I am staying at (a Hotel) such as a utilities bill. It is not a state function, but a federal function, so Kansas is obstructing justice and Vitalchek is liable for a multi-million dollar class action suit.
I offered the corrupt and inept Kansas office to send the certified copy to the Consulate in Versailles--because the Kansas office lied when claiming they were trying to prevent fraud--and they declined because it was a lie. Versailles Consulate won't issue me a new passport without my certified copy of my birth certificate.
At some point, President Macron will have to get involved because Donald Trump doesn't care about anything that doesn't self-promote, even though Article 2 vests all the executive power into his hands while POTUS.
Kansas is afraid to admit their true scheme because I already shut down any Star Chamber policies--they want me to hire a lawyer to get my certified copy of my birth certificate, even though there is no magic ability of a lawyer to determine where I was born. I even provided copies of the US Census with my name and my parents name, and I have used ancestry experts that provided copies of official US documents that trace my ancestry in America to the 1760s (Scottish).
There is a saying, when someone tells you who they are, believe them ...
In '16, in a speech running for the Rep nomination for Pres., he said he was running because he wanted to be, and i quote, "the most powerful man in the country, in the world" - in other words, a dictator, and everything he has done since then has been in pursuit of that goal. With regard to the country, he has gutted the Gov.t, its agencies and public servants, nullified Congress and usurped its powers, defied Fed.l courts. With regard to the world, he has funded a genocide, openly attacked another country, is in the process of invading others, all in the name of "national security", and forced other countries to "make deals" with him with regard to "trade".
He is indeed the worst Pres. in my lifetime (I am 78+) - and he will keep getting worse. The fact that he hasn't been charged, tried and convicted by now is a stain on our so-called "representatives" in Congress.
I am a bit surprised that Ralph didn't mention the Clinton impeachment in '98 for "lying under oath and obstruction of justice." What did he lie about? having sex in the oval office ...
Here is an interesting article on that process, which may be a clue as to arguments against conviction:
Thank you all. Absolutely important to get this info out to public. I only learned of it in Aug. And this video in late Aug. The info is great. Ill be focused on town hall events, meetings with politicians, communications with them and J. Raskin and House Judiciary Committee re: impeachment, and spreading the word about the website and petition. Ive been tracking bills at www.govtrack.us for last few months.
Trump is the predictable result of the symptom of the problem that has not been properly addressed since I started voting 50 years ago- big money corrupting our political process. Because it has not been properly addressed it has continued to get worse with each election producing the symptoms evidenced by every president and Congress over the last 50 years.
While it is important to try to treat the symptoms, if the cause is not properly addressed it will only result in a constant game of whack a mole treating the ever increasing magnitude of the symptoms.
Please stop wondering why the big money politicians do the bidding of the big money interests as the reason is clear when they are properly labeled as big money politicians and do something about it by organizing citizens to replace the big money politicians with small donor politicians so we can begin treating the cause of the symptoms.
You list the recent polls supporting impeachment for Democrat, Republican and independent voters. For decades polls have shown 80% of all citizens want the big money out of politics.
If you really want the Congress to do it's job when to comes to things like impeachment then you must get the citizens to do their part by electing small donor politicians to Congress that will do their job because they are not corrupted by big money.
The big money politicians will not pass any legislation ( including constitutional amendments ) that will get the big money out of politics because the big money interests have no interest in getting the big money our of politics. The only avenue to achieve this goal is citizens using our votes and money to make it happen without legislation.
Please help organize citizens to demand small donor candidates in 2026 and enforce that demand with our votes.
Just 10% of the 150 million voters investing 100 dollars in contributions to small donor candidates in 2026 would total 1.5 billion dollars and could be just the tip of the iceberg.
Just 10% of voters casting write in votes in 2026 when there are no small donor candidates on the primary and general election ballot to register votes against the big money candidates on the ballot and to create and demonstrate demand for small donor candidates in future elections will provide a base for increased participation in 2028 making it possible to elect small donor candidates in 2028.
If you had me on the Radio Hour in early 2019 to discuss this approach as you said you would on Washington Journal (10-24-2018) we could already be well on our way to eliminating big money corrupting our political process and might have avoided the symptom of Trump in 2024.
Please make good on your statement to have me on the Radio Hour to discuss this approach so we can do positive updates on it's progress in 2028 and 2030 instead of just reporting on the increased severity of the symptoms due to your inaction in addressing the cause of the symptoms
Here's the problem - I suspect there are lot of folks who made write-in votes in those elections - but in many, if not most, places those votes were not counted - and even if they were, were they all for one candidate, or many (Mickey Mouse, e.g.) so if we want to use write-ins I think we need to a) agree on a single candidate to write-in and b) have a mechanism for reporting to some independent collection body, maybe PC, e.g. who could aggregate and report the results - lets say, X million people voted for Y candidate as a write-in ... because the battle is not just around donors, but around around what a candidate stands for .... and those write-in votes may help tell us what "we the people" actually want, more than all those "surveys" we see - we can say we want a lot of things, but what will we actually VOTE for, when faced with a choice and the opportunity to make that choice in a voting booth ...
I do agree that we need to support "small donor candidates" - but should that be the sole criterion for our choice
As only short relevant comments are sent to Ralph each week I try to keep my comments short. But I will try to provide more details as follow ups to those who ask or comment.
As for the small donor candidate being the sole criteria, that is an issue that 80% of citizens can agree on even if they disagree about other issues and the write in vote is for when there are no suitable small donor candidates to vote for. (For example, the only small donor candidate is a Nazi.)
As for the write in votes not being counted those votes in places that are not counted to elect a candidate will be counted.
The total votes cast will be reported with the election results. The votes counted to elect candidates will be counted and reported. The votes for candidates subtracted from the total votes cast will reveal the write in vote total.
Citizens can sign up on a website before the election stating their purpose of casting a write in vote which is to demand small donor candidates and after the election to show how they voted. Citizens that have a small donor candidate to vote for will be able to vote for those candidates while those without a small donor candidate can still be counted with the other voters on this issue even if they disagree about the other positions of any small donor candidates.
This way people that support Republicans, Democrats, third parties and independents can work together on this one demand and use it to influence all candidates in all parties without having to agree on a multitude of other issues.
US certainly needs to impeach the ignoble trump-character ASAP, only after they’ve done this they can pick up the pieces. Then they have to find an honourable President, let’s all the rest of us wish them good luck on that.
Shucks, if "decent chance" were the criterion for effort, there are a whole lot of things that wouldn't have been, nor would be, done, nor lives that would have been, or would be, saved if that were true .... anyone in the medical profession knows that ...
Some things you have to do or try to do, in spite of the "odds" because they are the "right thing to do"
It's unimaginable that I could listen to a whole Ralph Nader Show on impeaching Trump and not one person uttered the word "Gaza"! Oh well, let the ReInqusition carry on! Discouraged, Dave
Nader and Company, while you discuss the possibility of impeaching Trump, you often overlook the fact that millions of people support him and his administration (regime). Trump supporters tend to avoid using terms like "fascist," "dictator," "authoritarian," or "king." So, what is it that these supporters truly want? They desire a STRONGMAN--someone who will take decisive action regardless of the consequences, as long as the objectives are achieved.
You want Trump to be impeached, but you still refuse to interview people who support him. I have requested that you interview Gary Null or ask him to share his viewpoints on your show, as he is a leading voice representing the views of many who were dissatisfied (before Trump) with the current state of America. This is where a strongman and Project 2025 come into play.
Ask Mr. Null about his silence or agreement on certain issues. I've mentioned this before: if you listen to his podcasts leading up to the presidential elections in 2016, 2020, and 2024, it's evident that he wanted Trump to win. He has conveyed to his listeners that he did not support Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, or Kamala Harris, as he often links them to what is commonly known as the "deep state."
I previously noted a few months ago that some of Mr. Null's talking points align with the viewpoints commonly found among conservative and far-right media, such as Fox News or in publications like The Epoch Times and ZeroHedge. If you watch the video clips included in his podcasts, you'll be able to see his beliefs more clearly.
I’m not sure how far in advance you book guests, but I inquired a few weeks ago about having individuals like Maria Ressa on your podcast.
As Trump Attacks CBS, Maria Ressa Warns He Is Following Philippine Model to Crack Down on Free Press
Also, I said weeks ago that the Trump administration is evolving into an authoritarian regime modeled after Hungary. Viktor Orban, Hungary’s autocratic leader, came to the Heritage Foundation (the crafters of Project 2025) to collaborate with them on crafting a plan to keep Trump -- or a Christian Nationalist -- in power.
You should invite Kim Lane Scheppele as well on a separate podcast.
She wrote an article that shows how Orban is able to stay in power:
In February 2025, she was invited to the University of Delaware to speak about "How to Lose a Democracy: What America Can Learn from the Rest of the World."
Do you know Andra Watkins? She knows more about Project 2025 than anyone else. She used to identify as a Christian Nationalist. You should consider doing the entire show with her.
Are you aware of the challenges we are facing? Has there ever been an administration capable of merging data from various federal agencies? This includes databases that manage Medicare and Medicaid, Social Security, veterans' services, and the IRS. With the implementation of DODGE and the use of artificial intelligence, they can now effectively target individuals and restrict access to government benefits. In some cases, this could even result in someone being placed in Social Security's death master file by “accident.”
I unsubscribed from some of my subscriptions on Substack because some of the writers seem more focused on making money than providing valuable content. Additionally, I can't even post a comment unless I'm a "paid subscriber." Many of them are sharing information that I can access for free through mainstream media.
Look man, if I had been living in Europe during the 1930s, particularly in Germany, I would hope there were people who could warn me about the dangers that were about to unfold. Similarly, if I were living and working in Taiwan today, I would want to receive warnings about the possibility of an invasion by China.
"They desire a STRONGMAN--someone who will take decisive action regardless of the consequences, as long as the objectives are achieved."
I agree that apparently "a lot" of folks actually want a "strongman" aka, Dictator, in office, will/do approve of whatever mechanisms are necessary to achieve that end - e.g. re-districting, voter suppression, militarization, etc. - to achieve their objectives.
The ?s I think need to be explored are, first such folks "objectives" (in their own words as opposed to others' interpretations of them) they wish to achieve that would make them prefer a dictatorship over a democracy, willing to face "the dangers that were about to unfold" or thinking they could tolerate - in other words one needs to really understand one's "adversary" in order to deal with him ... and then engage in discussions about each of those objectives - some may be negotiable, others not ... and go from there ...
Could Ralph actually do a Q+A session with anyone .... he has strong convictions which endear him to those who share those convictions, but which, IMO, make it rather difficult to engage in actual dialogue - he is, after all, a trained attorney engaged in litigation, not mediation ...
Also i wonder, does Ralph actually read the comments posted here???
I'm not hearing the type of cutting edge, energetically serious programming here that is needed. This is generally fantasy material delivered by intellectual periwinkles. I could come up with 100 recommendations to actually have consequential effects. So many people are discouraged, turned off to politics, retreating into their private worlds now, some turn to unhealthy addictions as they see no path forward.
Also this seems more like feel good therapy for Ralph as if he needs it. He needs to be called out on his failures, not pandered to. How much are these program people paid? This is hobbyist material, not serious life and death political dialogue.
So what are his failures, as opposed to ours - the guy went through 4 grueling election cycles - indeed, he "failed"to win, but that was because too many of us failed to vote for him ...
So what are your "100 recommendations"? C'mon, man if they are so good, share them ...
I'm not being paid to do political reform, activism, problem solving in a tough fighting mood with a working group of people totally dedicated to humanitarian and ethical principles, if I were I guarantee you I'd keep focused on getting the job done. The GOP goes for the jugular in political combat, that's what the left needs to always keep in mind, it's a life and death struggle of the elites vs. the vast majority of people that just want decent healthy socially productive lives. I'll try to come up with a list.
I am begging whoever will listen to consider one thing. I am 72 years old and am still pretty sharp, if you don't mind my saying so.

How Viktor Orban Wins

"Does Ralph actually read the comments posted here???" Good question.
Yes, every week, we send him a sampling.
Would be nice to get some feedback ....
Thomas L: And what have you done? I assume nothing. So there.
