Has anyone noticed that Trump's 8-minute announcement of the war on Saturday morning included a rather odd statement:
“It’s time for all the people of Iran – Persians, Kurds, Azeris, Balochis and Akhvakhs – to shed from themselves the burden of tyranny and bring forth a free and peace-seeking Iran,” .
This appears to be a copy-and-paste version of Netanyahu's speech, with a slip-up on the last member of this list (the Akhvakhs live in Russia, not Iran):
"The time has come for all segments of the people in Iran – the Persians, the Kurds, the Azeris, the Balochis, and the Ahwazis – to rid themselves
of the yoke of tyranny and bring about a free and peace-seeking Iran."
Was Netanyahu dictating what Trump should say, and Kushner et al garbled the instructions? Or maybe one of his speech writers put in this absurdity as a kind of Freudian slip? A declaration of war written by a foreign leader is probably a first in world history....
I do think that escalating with ground troops with all its contingency is so "problematical" that using Iranians in the streets is this "project's " plain intent.

IT IS NOT what one would "expect" but it is a reality check ---that this is so far from over

I am also very grateful for these interviews. It is a prefect summary of things I am listening in some far from mainstream media. One thing I wish they could have talked about and discussed to try some clear picture is something I heard Ali Abunimah (The Electronic Intifada) saying - that it is possible that one reason the US decided to attack Iran is that Iran is main partner of both China and Russia and, with a destabilized Iran, oil production would cause problems for those countries. He didn't elaborate more than that, he said it was a thought that occurred to him and he wrote about it. It would be interesting to hear an informed debate about this
The situation of a roaming U.S. wrecking crew seems less scary now - is what I experienced while listening to these experts in their fields, who, while questioned by Ralph's relentless challenges, actually, in my mind, managed to reinforce their claims by their calm and measured responses. I’m sure this is not what you were going for, Ralph, and I do take to heart your constant admonition to the rest of us to act to bring about the change we want and need. But this surcease of the only constancy we seem to now experience in this past year of yet another highly charged catastrophe, even if only momentary - is welcomed. Thank you noble guests and of course, to you, Ralph with your wonderfully probing mind and, of course, your great team.

Geopolitically it is now rampant or viral(infecting), BUT we can offer our own prediction market folly: Will US citizens be deemed possibly enemy if opposing the all powerfuls? Putin's invasion was his preemptive take on what threatened his ecosystem. Xi assumes his top general is too spotlit so disappears him...back to Iran: rise up all Iranians and be our ground troops... suckers.
And in reality? We don't know what we don't know but sow dragon teeth in its ancient bloody ground which we just made bloodier.
This was a tremendous discussion. You had great people talking about the assault on Iran and Iran’s choices to withstand the assault and strike back. But what most startled me was the comment I think by Bruce Fein that the American public, despite its plethora of mainstream news shows running 24/7, are essentially ignorant and uninformed. My concern is that I believe the American people want to be informed and think they are informed, but they don’t know what news and media sources to choose that will in fact inform them. Again, I think it was Bruce Fein who said that education is the heart and soul of the solution. And sure enough Trump and his administration are trying to gut the resources for public education and blight academic freedom in universities. It’s a dangerous time, for sure.
