civic engagement is tied to education as to its importance, and access to facts as opposed to corporate media propaganda. this bar could be raised by eloquent and informed people speaking out on social media and utube.
It is so sad to see old man trump ,, ( he has stage 3 dementia) mumbling along with Ben watching him during the trump - Ben news conference,,,trump wants that Nobel prize so much and he hopes this get it for him .
So Ben the big question is on what day ( date ) are you going to stop killing innocent Gaza people ?
Give us the date or both of you get fired ... Period,, you have 30 days to get result .
It is amazing how progress is made when those's making decisions lose if they don't get results.
( I am Vietnam Veteran and 5 years older than trump )
The voice of America is the American, consumer ,,over 70% of the United States economy is controlled and supported by the American consumer. .take Walmart the largest supplier of bananas to the American consumer, if the American consumer said "we don't want no bananas today " i bet Walmart would take notice ?
Walt Disney caved into to the Kimmel feasco not for liberty and pursuit of justice,,,but to make and save the big bucks on their balance sheet.
After all what do those big shot CEO's and CFO's need to do all day besides meet with hedge funds and sell off the corporate assets with side bar letters and protect their jobs and keep the board of directors from giving them , their 'step down" notices .
Since the CEO 's other number one job is to cut back on employees like their leader Trump..is in the process of doing ( u.s. Government employee salaries only make up 1 to 3 % of the total cost to run the United States government) Don't you think it's time for the American consumers to cut back and eliminate real CEO and CFO jobs and wast . I bet the consumer would save over billion dollars ,, if those "step down,," letters went out tonight. Any takers ? ..
How about it America? Good luck America ,have a great day my friends
The way dictators take over countries is to simply cause enough chaos so that "all " need to come to him for relief and survival .
After the dictator gets control of the legal and news systems and complete control of the military he will shut down the government,, ( fooling people and news pundents into thinking it is a political issue ). unemployment will go up along with basic commodity prices ,, and then the people will soon begin to beg for relief.
As a dictator he will write personal signed checks to the disgruntle masses to get their allegence and soon they will be willing to do his bidding in a War ..
Will history repeat itself ?
It's your choice America.. good luck America have a great day my friends
Please do not lump all "older" Americans into the Trump camp. Remember, we protested Vietnam, we've held onto progressive ideologies. Look at the younger, gun-loving, under-educated white voters as trump supporters.
Enjoyed this show very much! Obviously Ralph is very concerned about the current state of affairs in our Executive Branch! I was a bit concerned about Ralph's comment(Minute 37.5)about "Russian Invasion of Ukraine"... To characterize the conflict like this is an oversimplification and Ralph's voice is so powerful I started to 2nd guess myself.... Thanks for listening! Dave
77 or so years of American Television broadcasting
Had you gone into a typical Czech home in the 1980s, unless there was a cosmonaut launch or the Olympics were scheduled, the TV would probably be off.
Unlike the 6 to 18 hours in an American household.
Consider 1989: if Czech Television was as 'entertaining' as American TV, the Czech public would likely have been home, watching "Married with Children." Not in the squares; not in the streets. No Revolution.
This was an incredibly fine program with the hosts interacting with reader comments. I am thankful that the program chose to use the comment I made about the genocide in Gaza. The change in this week’s format produced a remarkable offering from the staff of the Radio Hour and listeners. It’s interesting that listeners make observations that are often as good as the experts that Ralph hosts on the program.
My sense over the past months has been that we as a nation are in some really deep mud to borrow a line, sort of, from Pete Seeger. What strikes me as a long-time listener of the Radio Hour, a protester, and a writer, is how fast the government has slipped into near-dictatorship. Coming out of the Vietnam era, I knew that substantive change had to come if the nation was to avoid another debacle, but one debacle became many, and as the program rightly noted today, corporate money now calls the tune and many democratic norms have gone the way of the Edsel.
What also saddens me greatly is that changes such as consumer rights, reforms of government, and reforms to corporations, for which Mr. Nader worked so hard, and of which he was a driving force, have been challenged and eviscerated by the far right.
The return on investment in the US is far greater than in Europe. US corporations and investors are taxed less than in Europe, and there are far fewer regulations. As a result, investment in US tech is far greater. We also attract the best tech workers from other countries.
Ralph's response to the question about Citizens United was that the simple answer is public financing of public elections.
It may be a simple answer but it is not a simple achievement.
As Ralph has acknowledged that the Congress is controlled by the big money interests and the big money interests have no interest in public financing of elections the only way to get public financing legislation passed is to first replace the big money legislators with small donor legislators.
The problem has to be solved before legislation to solve the problem can be passed.
Ralph said we can't wait until November of 2026 to take action to win in 2026 but if all we do is replace some big money Republicans with big money Democrats in 2026 it in no way can be considered a win.
The only way to win in 2026 is to organize citizens to demand small donor candidates and enforce that demand with our votes in the 2026 primaries and general elections and build on that in 2028 so that we can elect candidates that are not controlled by the big money interests.
As Ralph is only sent short comments each week it is difficult to include details, but I have posted many comments in more detail and also sent info to CSRL over the last ten years.
Have I paid enough dues to qualify for one hour of Ralph's time to discuss this approach of organizing citizens to utilize this basic principle of democracy to exercise our collective power to control Congress?
I need Ralph to explain to me how this approach (basic democracy) will not work at all and/or how it will not be more effective much sooner than waiting another 40-50 years for the big money politicians to defy the big money interests by passing authentic public financing legislation and/or constitutional amendments.

What about the role of Netanyahu in Charlie Kirk's assassination? Why is Candace Owens the sole source of facts that the FBI won't reveal?

American oligarchs understand this.
Australia also suffers from lack of civic motivation . . . we’re all too busy making money.
Wow: ‘impeachment or removal from office’ ‘nothing comes close to this’ . . . . interesting!
Maybe something meaningful might happen.

Ga. $16 Billion Question!! The answer… Water(see: City of Cartersville and Bartow county, Archer Seymour Western)
Tire dumps are another example of corporate exploitation and irresponsibility in waste generation and disposal.
